AS FAR and TP Mazembe players dominate contest for the Interclub Player of the Year (Women) Award
Players from the two finalist teams of the CAF Women’s League – TP Mazembe and AS FAR are the only ones that made the latest five-shortlist for the CAF Interclub Player of the Year in the women’s category.
TP Mazembe beat AS FAR by a lone goal in the final match. Two Congolese players, Merveille Nanguji and Lacho Flora Marta, made the top five shortlist.
The others are the trio of Doha El Madani, Khadija Er-Rmichi and Sanaâ Mssoudy who are all AS FAR players.

Chiamaka Nnadozie makes final list for CAF Goalkeeper the Year final contest
Super Falcons’ goalkeeper, Chiamaka has her eyes on two major laurels as the clock ticks down to CAF Awards 2024 in Morocco.
She is already in contention to retain her crown as the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year having made the final five shortlist.
She is also shortlisted for the top seed award, the Woman’s Footballer of the Year where she has two sisters from Malawi and the Zambian Barbra Banda to contest with.
Challenging her for the Goalkeeper of the Year Award are players who played major roles in last month’s CAF Women’s Champions League.
Top among the contestants is Fideline Ngoy of DR Congo and TP Mazembe. She kept clean sheets in most of the matches at the league and became champions with TP Mazembe.
The others are Habiba Sabry of Egypt and third-placed FC Masar at the Women’s Champions League as well as Khadija Er-Rmichi of Morocco and AS FAR; and Andile Dlamini (South Africa / Mamelodi Sundowns).

Edo Queens shortlisted for Club of the Year at CAF Awards
Fourth-placed Edo Queens FC at last month’s CAF Women’s Champions League is one of the five clubs that have been shortlisted for the Club of the Year (Women) Award.
The club, at the semi-finals, lost 3-1 after extra time to eventual champions, TP Mazembe last month.
Apart from the top four clubs of the championship, TP Mazembe which crashed out to Edo Queens at the group stage is the fifth nominated club.

Super Falcons shortlisted for National Team of the Year at CAF Awards
The last four teams that battled for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games women’s football tournament will be battling again for another laurel, the National Team of the Year Award.
Nigeria eliminated South Africa while Zambia edged out Morocco to pick the two African slots. The fifth team shortlisted for the CAF Award is Cameroon’s Under 20 women’s team.
