Morocco Named Partner Destination of the Year 2025 by French Tour Operators
By Kunle Solaja.
Morocco is not just about football and hosting sports events. It is an all-round destination for all sectors. Morocco’s tourism sector has just received a major international endorsement after being named Partner Destination of the Year 2025 by the Syndicate of French Tour-Operators (SETO), a distinction that underscores the kingdom’s growing strength in one of its most important source markets.
The award recognises the quality of collaboration between the Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) and leading French tour operators, as well as Morocco’s sustained performance in the highly competitive French outbound travel market.
France has long been Morocco’s largest and most strategic tourism market, accounting for a significant share of annual arrivals. SETO’s recognition reflects what industry observers describe as a “mature, structured and forward-looking” partnership between Moroccan authorities and French travel professionals.
According to stakeholders, the MNTO has focused on three key pillars to consolidate Morocco’s position:
- Strategic co-marketing initiatives with French tour operators
- Strengthening air connectivity between major French cities and Moroccan destinations
- Promotion of regional diversity beyond traditional hotspots
By working closely with French travel agencies and tour operators, Morocco has ensured that its tourism offerings — from cultural heritage and desert adventures to beach resorts and culinary experiences — remain visible, accessible and competitive.
Enhanced air connectivity has played a central role in sustaining growth. Increased direct flights linking cities such as Paris, Lyon and Marseille with Moroccan hubs have facilitated steady visitor flows and encouraged repeat travel.
At the same time, Moroccan authorities have expanded promotion beyond established destinations like Marrakech to include coastal, mountain and lesser-known cultural regions. This diversification strategy has allowed Morocco to appeal to a wider demographic of French travellers, including families, luxury seekers, eco-tourists and adventure enthusiasts.
Tourism analysts say this approach reflects a broader shift in Morocco’s tourism model — one that prioritises sustainability, regional balance and year-round attractiveness.
SETO’s award is also seen as recognition of Morocco’s operational reliability and long-term commitment to the French market. Despite global travel disruptions in recent years, Morocco has maintained consistent engagement with tour operators through joint campaigns, trade fairs and incentive programmes.
Industry insiders note that Morocco’s cultural proximity to France, shared linguistic ties, and established diaspora links continue to provide a competitive edge. However, the 2025 award signals that performance — not just historical ties — has driven the kingdom’s renewed leadership status.
Consolidating a Preferred Destination Status
With the “Partner Destination of the Year 2025” title, Morocco strengthens its branding as a preferred destination for French travellers. Tourism officials say the recognition will catalyse further investment in infrastructure, product innovation and experiential travel.
As global tourism competition intensifies, the award positions Morocco not only as a traditional favourite but as a dynamic and evolving destination capable of adapting to modern travel trends.
For Morocco’s tourism sector, the distinction is more than symbolic — it is a strategic affirmation that its partnership-driven approach in France is delivering measurable results and setting the foundation for sustained growth in the years ahead.
