Big score as Casablanca hosts first African Esports Championships
The first African Esports Championships has been concluded in spectacular fashion in Casablanca, as thousands of spectators thronged the Mohammed V Sports Complex and millions others followed virtually online.
This competition was an opportunity to celebrate the talent of African players and highlight the growth of esports on the continent.
The atmosphere was electrifying
Morocco confirmed its status as an esports hub in Africa by successfully hosting this major event.
The infrastructure put in place and the enthusiasm of the public demonstrated the country’s ability to organize high-level international competitions.
On the podiums, Egypt distinguished itself by winning three of the five titles at stake: PUBG Mobile, MLBB, and MLBB Women.
Morocco, the host country, also shone, taking second place in the PUBG Mobile and MLBB categories, qualifying for the Riyadh 2024 World Championships.
Tunisia and South Africa complete the podium in the other categories, highlighting the diversity of talent on the African continent.
This first edition of the African Esports Championships was a resounding success, thanks in particular to the unwavering support of the Moroccan authorities.
The presence of Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool,and Sports, Mr. Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and Mr. Mohamed Mhidia, Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, testified to the importance given to esports in Morocco.
The success of the African Esports Championships, organized from August 16 to 21 by the African Esports Confederation (ACES) and the International Esports Federation (IESF), in partnership with the Royal Moroccan Federation of Electronic Games (FRMJE), opens up new perspectives for the development of esports on the continent.
The participation of African teams in the Esports World Championship will help to showcase African talent on the international stage.

Nigerians among contestants at African Esports Championship AEC24 in Casablanca
The African eSports Championships (AEC24) begins today in Casablanca, Morocco with Nigeria also featuring at the ultimate battleground for Africa’s gaming elite. The championship which will feature 180 top-tier athletes from 17 African countries will run till Wednesday.
Holding at the Casablanca’s Mohammed V Sports Complex in Casablanca, the event will feature a series of high-stakes competitions.

Morocco hosts African E-Sports Championships
The ultimate destination for continental sports events, Morocco will host for the first time, the African E-Sports championship in Casablanca this weekend. The much anticipated event will run from Saturday to Wednesday next week,
Casablanca will transform into the true capital of African eSports, hosting the continent’s top athletes as they compete for the honour of their nation and a coveted spot at the World eSports Championships in Riyadh this November.
The event will kick off with a spectacular opening ceremony on August 16 at the Mohammed V Sports Complex, setting the stage for a series of intense competitions where over 180 athletes from 17 countries will compete in five categories: CS2 Open, CS2 Women, MLBB Open, MLBB Women, and PubG Mobile.
