Tricky Guinea-Bissau Hope To Upset Nigeria In Last Group Game –
Guinea Bissau, the only team that has inflicted a defeat on the Super Eagles in the entire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations series, stretching from the qualifying stage, is hoping for another upset.
The Super Eagles have played eight matches so far in the framework of 2023 Afcon but only lost to Guinea Bissau in Abuja last year. Another Day of Infamy is here, Guinea Bissau seem to be telling the Super Eagles. .
The Nigerian side will play their last Group A match against Guinea Bissau this Monday with victory in mind to possibly top the group. Guinea Bissau are arithmetically out of contention for qualification having lost their earlier group matches.
But they hope to take the last lap of honour as they did against Egypt at Cameroon 2021 when the Mohamed salah-inspired Pharaohs were stretched before they secured a 1-0 win from a 69th minute goal.
They are therefore not a team to be overlooked. “Indeed we are going to base ourselves on this match. We have analysed the game of the Super Eagles well, we hope to make a success of our exit in the absence of having had a good tournament,” Baciro Condé reportedly said ahead of this evening’s game.
For its part, Nigeria does not want to relive the same scenario it experienced during the qualifiers against Guinea Bissau.
“What matters is the present. We focus on the present and the future. We have confidence in ourselves. We are aiming for first place which is also occupied by Equatorial Guinea and Cote d’Ivoire, it is up to us to remain vigilant,” José Peseiro explained.
Defender Kenneth Omeruo, stated their mission in Côte D’Ivoire is to win the trophy and nothing else.
“Our objective is clear. Bring the cup home. It’s been a while since we added a trophy to our cabinet which is not acceptable when you’re wearing the green shirt. I will not say that our defeat against them was accidental, but it does not reflect the spirit which reigns in our camp today. We are hungry for victory, it’s up to us to put everything in place to achieve our ambitions.”

Libya’s AFCON dreams go up in flames!
The hopes of Libya securing a 2025 Africa Cup of Nations ticket seem to have gone up in smoke. This is the sequel to the 2-1 defeat that Rwanda inflicted on the Benin Republic on Tuesday evening.
With the result, Libya’s position is further cemented at the bottom of the table. Nigeria, even with an outstanding match, still leads with seven points.
They are followed by Benin Republic who have six points. Rwanda followed with five points.
The star men were Innocent Nshuti and Djihad Bizimana who scored in the space of two minutes as Rwanda came from behind to defeat Benin 2-1 at Amahoro Stadium on Tuesday, October 15.

Libya vs Nigeria: CAF lifts the burden off Nigeria
The press release on Tuesday by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) may have lifted a burden off Nigeria as the match with Libya is considered postponed rather than the Super Eagles refusing to play.
The continental body remarked that the matter would be referred to the competent CAF bodies.
